Not As Bad As I Thought…

Well, yesterday was my first day with the Newport Running Club! The run was slated to be 22.5 minutes out, then 22.5 minutes back on the same route.

Unfortunately, I was only able to run thirty six minutes before my lungs gave out. It was the longest time and distance I have run in the past two years so I can take a minor failure with a grain of salt.

Onto today: looking for a 30-35 minute minute treadmill workout. Let’s see if I can get this one knocked out.

Misery Loves Company…

I’m usually pretty confident with myself and the things I get involved in but based in the last few training sessions, I’m beginning to think signing up for the half-marathon was a terrible decision.

I need to find a better daily routine. I am too tired by the time I get to the gym at 6:00pm after working 10 hours.

The upside, my first day of the local running club specifically designed for the Flying Pig half marathon starts for me tonight.

Leave The Gym Resolutioners Alone

Sass & Balderdash

We’ve all seen them. There could be one next to you right now on the treadmill holding on for dear life and hiking up a level 15 incline. You may have spotted one inquisitively eying a BOSU ball, wondering what manner of cruel and unusual punishment a semi-circle could possibly deliver. They’re the Resolutioners who have taken your gym by storm this January to get started on their weight loss and fitness goals, and they haven’t received the warmest of welcomes.

I used to be a Resolutioner. In fact, I can say with confidence that “losing weight” or “eating better” was probably my staple resolution from the year 2003 through 2011. When it comes to my New Year’s resolutions, it was probably only surpassed in frequency by “This year I’m going to have a boyfriend,” or “This year I’m committing to not being so quiet and weird.”

I never stuck to it. I’d show up to the…

102 Days Out…

Well I woke up this morning and with the back of a 70 year old man and a massive headache. So this is a great start to training, right?

Today’s goal is to get back on the treadmill after work and jog a 5K.

Seriously, why did I ever let myself get this out of shape?

Silver lining in just pushing through all the aches and pain… I’ll be down 30-40lbs and still single haha

T Minus 103 Days…

For some reason I decided to sign up for the Flying Pig Half Marathon in Cincinnati which is on May 3rd 2015. Mind you, I am in hands down the worst shape of my life.

Chewed tobacco religiously and drank like a fish for the past 2 years. So when I was in my peak running for I was a lean 170lbs with less than 10% body fat. Today, I robust 220lbs and a body fat percentage above 20.

So here goes the challenge: today was day 1 of training. It didn’t go as planned but I probably got 2 miles of exercise in with about 5 minutes of stretching.

The goal for tomorrow: run one mile in 8 minutes uninterrupted.

I have the tools that will make this half marathon a success: lung capacity trainer, diet plan & terrific training plan. I have all the physical necessities I need for this but do I have the intestinal fortitude and mental discipline to complete my goal?

We sure will see over the next 3+ months…

Welcome to the shit show.
